Terms of Use
Last updated: October 5, 2026
These Terms of Use apply to your use of Houseplant Care (“the site”). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
What the site provides
The site publishes free guides about caring for houseplants. They are general information only. The site is written for home plant owners; it is not written by certified horticulturists, botanists or plant scientists, and it is not professional horticultural, veterinary or medical advice. It is not a substitute for advice from a local extension service, a qualified plant professional, a veterinarian or a doctor. We work to keep the guides clear and accurate, but we do not promise that every guide is free of errors.
Plant-care disclaimer
Results vary. What a plant needs depends on its species and cultivar, on the light, temperature and humidity where it grows, on the season, on the potting medium and on the container. The guides describe general approaches and things to check; they cannot take your particular plant or home into account. Depths, sizes and times are starting points, not rules.
No guarantee. We do not guarantee that any plant will survive, recover or grow in a particular way if you follow a guide. You use the information on the site at your own risk.
Toxicity information. Where a guide says something about the toxicity of a plant to people or pets, that statement is a summary of the sources cited and linked in the guide. It may be incomplete or out of date, and the fact that a guide carries no warning about a plant tells you nothing about that plant. Check the cited sources yourself. If a person or an animal has eaten part of a plant, contact a veterinarian, an animal poison control service or Poison Control.
Pesticide and fertilizer products. Any pesticide or fertilizer product must be used according to its own label. The label takes precedence over anything on this site. The site gives no doses, dilution rates or mixing instructions.
Using our content
Unless stated otherwise, the text, illustrations and design of the site belong to Houseplant Care. You are welcome to:
- read, print and use the guides for personal, classroom, library or other non-commercial purposes;
- share a link to any page;
- quote short passages with a clear credit and a link back to the original page.
Please do not republish whole guides or illustrations, sell them, or present them as your own work without written permission.
Common plant-care practices are not anyone’s property. Our rights relate to our own written guides and illustrations, not to the general ideas behind them.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the site. This includes attempting to gain unauthorized access, interfering with how the site works, sending spam or unlawful content through the contact form, or copying the site in bulk by automated means beyond what is needed for normal search engine indexing.
External links
Some guides link to third-party pages, such as the reference pages a statement is based on. Those links are provided for reference and are not endorsements. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, Houseplant Care is not liable for any loss, damage or injury arising from your use of the site or from following its guides, including the loss of or damage to a plant, and harm to a person or an animal. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how information is handled when you use the site.

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when they were last revised. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
